Vítáme Vás... Welcome
Welcome to the official website of the Newcastles of the World Conference 2014
This event will take place from April 28th to May 4th, 2014 in our town of Nové Hrady, South Bohemia, Czech Republic. The conference offers an exciting program with workshops, cultural events and excursions. It is an ideal opportunity for both smaller and larger Newcastles to meet, network, and develop joint projects. Benefits in particular for the smaller municipalities are the joint development of niche tourism, sharing examples of “best practice”, and bi-lateral educational exchanges. Mayors and other Newcastleres will have ample opportunity to present their towns and projects.
The mission of the Conference is to form a platform for Newcastlers to find common ground in, and understanding for each other's history, present time, and future to connect and develop steps for joint projects.
We plan to achive this through themed discussions, separation in Youth and Adult sessions and poster presentations. Themes include how individual Newcastles deal with the problem of physical barriers (for example Iron Curtain, Berlin Wall) and cultural barriers (prejudism, gender, age), best practice on new use for historical buildings focused on sustainable tourism, joint projects, and funding. Negative results should be discussed as a way to find solutions and avoid duplication of mistakes. Using separate youth and adult sections enables more focussed discussions. Fixed poster presentations allow each town to show their strong points and inerest fields for joint projects.
We are honored to invite you to attend this conference as our guest. Please let us know as soon as possible whether you are able to join us at the Newcastles Conference 2014. You can do so by sending us the registration form, preferably before February 14th. Feel free to contact us if you need further details on the conference.
